Classroom Critiques


The Architectural Technology students had the opportunity to critique sports complex designs created by first year students at Box Hill Institute.

Through discussions we were able to understand individual designs and provide alternative ideas and suggestions.

Learning about Water Conservation


The Architectural Technology students, Leanne, Brydon, and Carmen with instructor Marc, along with Journalism student Scott, had the opportunity to learn about Melbourne's water shortages.
Through an interactive display set up at the Victoria Gardens Mall and discussions with City West Water representatives, we were able to understand the importance of designing buildings for water conservation. As well Scott was able to learn more about the important issues regarding the water shortage and how it has been handled in the media.

Adventure to Victoria Market



The SAIT and Kirkwood students ventured out to the Queen Victoria Market to tend to some sightseeing and shopping. Here you can buy everything from fresh produce, meat, and baked goods to shoes, clothes, and crafts.

DGC student Kristen learns Toon Boom animation software techniques from Jason, Technologist in Digital Animation. Toon Boom is used on many top series such as The Simpsons.

Sunday May 11



The entire SAIT group of 9 students and 2 staff got to spend the day on Sentosa Island, with kilometres of sand and water to enjoy.


Saturday May 10


We visited the downtown area and walked along the quays on the Singapore River. Just like Calgary's Bow River, the Singapore River flows through the heart of the city.
Our nine visiting SAIT students rest under a bridge on the SIngapore River: Martin, Jessica, Hymie,Megan, Chris, Jordan, Natasha, Kristen and Alex.

Jessica, Megan and Kristen work on logo designs in Ethan Loh's Print Design class.
In the late afternoon we met with the ITE College CEO, Bruce Poh Geok Huat and some of his senior executives. Bruce is 4th from the left.

An Architectural Tour



The Architectural Technology students were taken on a guided tour by an instructor at Box Hill to view some important architectural elements in Melbourne. Here we visited the Shrine, a war memorial.

Construction Site Visit



The Architectural Technology students Leanne, Rich, Brydon, and Carmen, along with instructor Marc Bussiere were able to take a look at real building plans for a residential housing project. A carpentry instructor at Box Hill was able to show and explain to us how construction is done in Melbourne.

The Architectural Technology students were able to view past student work and gain new perspectives on design. We found it interesting to discover how different climates affect the design of a home.

Singapore Crew Takes a Day at the Beach

Tuesday, the SAIT students along with the Kirkwood Community College students participated in a walking tour around downtown Melbourne.

Here we visited numerous well known areas including Federation Square.

On Sunday we had a free day to explore Melbourne as we pleased. So some of us hopped on a Tram and headed to the Port to explore. Here we found a small beach area and had to test out the waters.
